Do you take walk ins?
Tuesday – Saturday 1pm-7pm! Scheduling an appointment ahead of time will always be recommended though.
Should I eat before getting tattooed?
Yes! Please do this! Eating and being hydrated before an appointment is a must! Nobody likes to get light headed.
How much will my tattoo cost?
The cost of your tattoo will all depend on its size, location, amount of detail, and the time needed to complete it. Pricing starts at $100 (shop minimum) for smaller tattoos and goes up from there.
For larger projects, pricing is determined by the length of the session and whether or not the tattoo is black & grey or color.
Sessions are priced according to your artist’s hourly rate, which can vary anywhere between $120-$200 an hour.
If you are working with a specific budget please let your artist know so we can design a piece to accommodate almost any budget!
How about kids?
No one under the age of 18 is allowed in the shop. (Sorry.)
Can I get tattooed if I am on medication or have a medical condition?
Depends on the medications and the conditions! Please consult with your doctor and your artist before making any appointments.
Do you do inner lip tattoos?
Artist dependent.
How about cover-ups?
You better believe it! If you have a piece that you are no longer a fan of, we would be happy to make it into something you’re thrilled about. Contact one of our artists directly to discuss & plan out your cover-up process.
Do you offer consultations?
Absolutely. If you are considering a new tattoo, big or small, and have any questions that you would like to go over in person, a consultation is recommended. And they’re free!
I’m fine but I’m on antibiotics. Should I still come in for my appointment?
No matter what medications you are on, please let your artist know beforehand what you are taking! Some medications and antibiotics can affect how your tattoo will heal.
Does it hurt? Do you offer any numbing/anesthetic?
Pain threshold varies by person, but typically yes, getting a tattoo does hurt! The pain is manageable but some areas are more sensitive than others. We do not offer any numbing creams but if you have experience with them and want to apply one yourself, before your appointment, please consult with your artist beforehand.
Should my skin be perfectly clear?
General rule of thumb: the clearer, the better. Dry, chaffed, sunburned, irritated, and/or broken out skin will not tattoo well and will ultimately hinder the quality of your tattoo once healed. If you are suffering from any type of skin issue, please consult with your artist beforehand.
How long is my tattoo going to last?
Hopefully forever! We use the best quality inks and supplies in order to preserve longevity in your tattoo. There are always exceptions though, for example, certain spots of the body may need more than one session in order to make it STICK! Knuckles, fingers, palms, feet, etc. basically anywhere that suffers extra wear on your body may require some touch ups over time.
How old do I have to be to get tattooed. Can my parent sign for me?
You must be 18 or older to get a tattoo in new york state REGARDLESS of parent permission.
Does your shop offer piercings?
No. (We will be recommending a link to Olive Body Arts once their brick and mortar is open.)
What can I do in preparation for my appointment?
Eat something and be hydrated! Please do yourself a favor and try not to be hungover either. Doing anything hungover is awful, let alone getting a tattoo. Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning beds 2 weeks prior to your appointment (and two weeks after). Wear comfortable and appropriate clothing that will not obstruct the placement of your tattoo and feel free to bring along any snacks you might want during your appointment!
Can i bring a friend/cousin/neighbor/etc. with me for my tattoo appointment?
Hell yeah you can! We just ask that you keep it reasonable. Nobody needs 47 friends to get tattooed.
What can i bring?
If you are a new client, please bring a government-issued photo ID (license, state ID, passport, etc.) with you to your first appointment.
Please bring any reference material with you. The day of your tattoo appointment, please bring anything your artist requested of you at your consultation. Feel free to bring your headphones, a tablet, book, magazine, bottle of water/any other non-alcoholic beverage with a lid, and light snacks if desired!
Can I shower after getting my tattoo?
Yes! Showering after your tattoo is a great way to wash it for the first time. We recommend NOT using hot water, but warm water. Hot water can burn your freshly tattooed skin and affect the healing process. Please refrain from using any products with chemicals to clean your tattoo. Just some warm water and natural fragrance free soap is more than enough. Pat dry and you’re ready to roll.
Can I bring in my own artwork?
Absolutely! We would be more than happy to collaborate on your tattoo with you. Please understand that some changes may need to be made, as not every piece of art is ready to translate to a tattoo right away.
